My last post focused on zeroing in on my interests, hobbies, likes, and ideas.
This post is about the work of turning Surviving into Thriving.
In 1943 Abraham Maslow wrote a paper, “A Theory of Human Motivation”.
The theory is a classification system you may have seen before or something close to it.
Mental, Physical, Emotional, Financial… or similar.
There is a correlation between the two
1) Self-actualization: achieving one’s full potential, including creative activities
2) Esteem needs: prestige, feeling of accomplishment
3) Belongingness & Love needs: intimate relationships, friends
4) Safety needs: security, safety
5) Physiological needs: food, water, warmth, rest (basic needs)
Since 1989, I have been on the survival side of life, just dealing with the day-to-day basic needs. I created the Living Process to turn things around. It’s always a work in progress, but it’s working.
Turning Surviving to Thriving is the next thing to work on. Putting it all together.
On October 1st the real work begins. I’m going to put everything together. I started in July. With My Goals, Simplifying, Challenges, Routines, Rules, Habits, Boundaries, Health, Interests, and everything else.
You can go back and read from “My Challenges” dated 07/18/2024, until now, if you need to catch up.
Believe it or not, it won’t affect my day that much overall (I’ve been adding changes slowly). It will, however, inspire me to Thrive. Doing things I love, learning new things, helping people, getting healthy, and living a more adventurous life. Basically, “The Living Process” and I can always adapt and change if needed.
Of course, I still have things I have to deal with: health, medical treatments, loss of vision, finances, and the things that go along for the ride. I know that it will cause problems, but this is life, definitely an adventure.
Carpe Diem always.
